Todd Harrison's Bio
Started his career as a photographer at the age of 8 when his father (formerly a news photographer) gave him his first complete darkroom and taught him everything he knew. Starting with the most basic photographic tools, Todd made his first pinhole camera and started to experiment with different films and exposures, and even started his elementary school’s first photography club.
But it wasn’t until the late 80’s when Harrison went along on a stock shoot with photographer Roy Morsch, that Harrison decided to take photography seriously as a profession through the suggestions and guidance of Morsch, who Harrison had talked into shooting some new headshots of him while staying the weekend in Starlight Pennsylvania at Morsche’s Ranch with he and his wife.
Living in Manhattan’s Union Square, Harrison eventually opened a studio 237 at W. 28th street with a partner above a scrap metal business down the block from FIT. “It was kinda crazy at first, because I threw caution to the wind” said Harrison. “and I was shocked at how fast the work came in!” Harrison touts this time as the "style development phase" of his shooting career as a photographer Todd was also still working with Island Photography as a marathon and event photographer, flying on the weekends from state to state shooting “clock” at the running events across the country. Harrison and photographer Dan Doby, then had a full 4000 Sq. ft. studio and darkroom on 24th street near the Flatiron building specializing in actor’s headshots and were rated among the best headshot photographers in N.Y.C Harrison moved to Los Angeles in the mid nineties. He immeadiatly set up shop and started shooting shooting headshots as well as modeling agency's and publicists. At first he was dividing time between N.Y.C. and L.A. He eventually landed a position at Bravo network as their "West Coast" photographer, photographing such events as the "Spirit Awards" and doing interview segments for "Bravo Profiles".
